Hydro Tasmania makes bold strategic choices to grow gender equality.

Gender Equality in a male-dominated sector 

Hydro Tasmania was committed to delivering the organisation’s first Gender Equality Strategy, and sought support to make it simple, authentic and achievable within a highly large and complex setting.


What we did:


We worked with Hydro Tasmania to bring together the breadth of initiatives and information that they had already invested in, in the pursuit of gender equality, into a coherent set of priorities and actions.

  • Analysed existing internal and external data and emerging gender equality trends and best-practice activity
  • Contextualised all information into a translational strategy that could be operationalised at all levels of the organisation
  • Supported development of a gender equality strategy artefact for the business
  • Developed an approach to implementation, inclusive of systems, rhythms and rituals to track and monitor progress


The result:


In January 2024, the organisation launched its first gender equality strategy and made visible its progress. The team successfully embedded an org-wide approach that was data-driven, ambitious and had a roadmap to implementation.
